Online Poker Championship Player Sues Full Tilt

The world of the Online Poker Championship basically fell apart, when the poker site with the highest liquidity - Globally - was shut down by the United States Department of Justice on Friday the 15th of April. This was Poker Stars. At the same time, the DoJ also seized the domains of Full Tilt Poker, Absolute Poker and Ultimate Bet. However, both Full Tilt and Poker Stars have many UK and European facing players also, plus the fact that at the time many US online poker players had millions in funds tied up in their online accounts. The sites were given no notice that their domains would be seized, so, everyone was taken unawares.

The basic gist of it is that Poker Stars and Full Tilt negotiated with the DoJ to open their doors for business again; only to offer pay-for-play games to their UK and European facing members. US members would be allowed access to their accounts but no payments would be accepted and only withdrawals could be made. Poker Stars have honored this arrangement, Full Tilt has not, and now the online poker championship player - Phil Ivey is suing the site.

He is not only an online poker championship player; he is one of the team leaders at Full Tilt, and the holder of no less than eight World Series of Poker bracelets. This man is a BIG poker deal!

According to Full Tilt, they are attempting to make financial restitution to members, but have done nothing to prove this and no members have been refunded. Phil Ivey has filed suit online, not only because he believes that his massive reputation in this industry has been dragged through the mud by the actions of Full Tilt; but also because he believes that fellow members of the site have been treated shabbily.

Up until now, all online poker championship players associated with the site have held their peace and not spoken. This is apparently due to their contractual obligations as sponsored professional players representing Full Tilt poker. Phil Ivey says he has broken his silence because of the fact that Full Tilt is not communicating with members, and he feels both embarrassed and disappointed based on this inactive stance his principals have taken. He also expressed regret about speaking up, but felt that it was necessary. He said that he "could no longer remain silent while so many players suffer economic harm."

There thousands of members who cannot get their money out of Full Tilt, and are also therefore unable to take part in the 2011 WSOP event. Ivey is showing solidarity with his brother and sister online poker championship players, and will also not be taking part in the WSOP events this year. He also said that he would do everything he possibly can to ensure a solution to the problem of unsettled player accounts. He believes that these are the people (Full Tilt customers) who have supported him through his career and refuses to accept that they have been treated so poorly by the site. In the meantime Poker Stars continues to offers services to UK and European players and is also processing withdrawals to US players.

Initially poker was mainly a game for the upper crust of society, but soon found its way to all layers of the population.

Fine of $250 000
Monday, 06 September 2010
A casino in Las Vegas has to pay the sum of $ 250,000 (or 162.127 pounds) for allowing a player to dance on a gaming table while other customers were playing. Caesars Palace and the Nevada regulators have accused the casino of not protecting the game and its customers. The player was dancing on a baccarat table and placing at the same time his bets while a game was in progress. The Gaming Control Board said that the security of the Caesars would be able to stop the behaviour of the player before in such a way. For nearly 45 minutes, the player didn’t stop jumping on the table and began to dance and gamble at the same time while other players were desperate to play baccarat. A fine was therefore sent to the casino for the injury. It is an atypical situation that you couldn’t expect anywhere else than USA.
